To respond to the climate emergency, we have decided, in 2021, to formalise and accelerate a long-standing commitment to the energy transition. We have defined a voluntary GHG reduction trajectory, as illustrated below:
1st step : measure
Carbon Footprint assessment on a Group level
Our carbon footprint assessment is carried out annually on our main business units and certified by a Third Party Organization.
2nd step : commit
A voluntary carbon trajectory within a scientific framework
In line with the Paris Climate Agreements, the goals stated allow us to contribute to the limitation of global warming to the ambitious target of 1,5°C.
Our carbon trajectory is validated by Science-Based Targets
Jointly supported by the United Nations Global Compact, the Carbon Disclosure Project (the carbon assessor to which we have been responding since 2020), the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the Science-based targets initiative promotes the implementation of ambitious climate trajectories. It is a guarantee of the rigor and credibility of our carbon trajectory, as each file is submitted to a committee of scientific experts.
We are proud to be the first equipment rental company to have our carbon trajectory validated by SBTi. This means that our emissions reduction targets are in line with the objectives set out in the Paris Climate Agreement.
Our main actions
Energetic performance of our branches
Renovation of our buildings enhancing their energetic performance – Deployment of LED lighting, and timing systems – Adaptation of electric infrastructures
Use of renewable energies
Since January 1, 2022, 100% of our branches in France are supplied with gas (biomethane) and electricity from renewable sources
Optimization of our transport logistics
Territorial coverage (over 1,000 branches worldwide) - Pooling of routes via regional logistics centres – Awareness-rising for our subcontractors
Conversion of our fleet of vehicles
Introduction of electric and hybrid rechargeable vehicles – Introduction of a gas truck
Investments in low-emission equipment
22% of our CAPEX in 2023 directed towards low-emission equipment.
