SAM was founded in 1967, working for professionals in Brittany and Loire-Atlantique. The first branch was located in Hennebont, in the north-west of France.
1977-1987: REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
In 1978, the company was bought by Lyonnaise des Eaux. SAM grew, with 44 branches in France by the end of 1986.
1987-1997: NATIONAL EXPANSION
The Grigny Desvroise Group bought SAM in 1987, which became Loxam in 1994. The company had over 150 branches by the end of 1987.
1997-2007: THE EUROPEAN CHALLENGE
In 1998, the Loxam Group began to expand into Europe, with the establishment of two branches in Switzerland. In 2001, Loxam became the leading European equipment rental company with presence in Switzerland, Belgium, Great Britain and Ireland.
In 2010, the Group set up for the first time outside of Europe, in Morocco, followed five years later with Brazil. With activities now in 13 countries (France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Great Britain, Ireland, Morocco and Brazil), Loxam is a leading figure in the industry.
